Vampire the Masquerade - Chronicles of the Night

Stacks Image 1808
The final nights in the world of darkness are especially bleak, where the "heroes" of our story are anything but. The story of a vampire, much less a group of them, attempting to vainly hold on to their humanity in a world gone mad - they aren't misunderstood. They aren't victims of oppressive stereotypes. They are the embodiment of mortal sin - Cain's very own cursed blood coursing through their undead veins.
Offense is meant. Danger lurks. To show weakness is to be killed by those stronger than yourself. Expect to be insulted. Expect to be misunderstood. What will become of these wayward souls, possibly cursed to forever live out of God's sight, forever?

We have chosen, given the sensitive nature of the role-play and to protect the environment in which it will occur, to pre-record the gaming sessions, which will go like normal, but be cut down for brevity and ease of viewing. We chose to play using the Revised / V20 edition of the rules, not only for the setting and familiarity of the ruleset, but because our channel's focus is on the older games, breathing new life (yes, we're aware) into these editions for how we approach them.
And for those who will ask, we are aware of the alleged "problematic" made up names for these fictional creations, and after long discussions with many points of views about the real world and their potential parallel, we don't exactly agree with the sentiment, point of view, or intent behind it. So We continue forward with canon as written. We respect your right to disagree with this stance, and to seek other forms of entertainment. Dark games about dark topics will not always strike people the right way. Ruffling feathers was often the point of the World of Darkness and we continue forward in the spirit with which it was designed, not how some non-canonically decided to interpret it.

In many ways, it started with Bloodlines. While streaming a playthrough of the game, we came to know a very diverse and passionate family of v:™ players, and we even convinced other streamers to try out the game, who quickly decided it was one of their favorites. Having become so invested in the vampires of Los Angeles at the completion of the game, we wished to continue our time among them, determining their fate after the fall of LaCroix. As such, Revised & V20 were not only a more familiar game mechanic, but also fit the timeline of the editions.
In the history of Vampire, Redemption sits as the very first video game for the tabletop RPG, and during a very early time for games of such a complex nature. It was a compelling story full of intricate and precise lore covering all the areas you could play in the game, from the dark ages to the modern last nights. Even though the mechanics and game design resembled something more akin to Neverwinter Nights or Diablo in its classic RPG combat game style, it was still at it's heart purely V:tm. In any ways, Redemption has had a large impact on our approach to lore and the role love and faith plays for these dark creatures at war with their inner beats.

For better or for worse, Kindred, the 90210 of the World of Darkness, holds a very special, cheesy place in our hearts. Yes, it's bad. Yes, it's corny. Yes, it's inaccurate. But at a time when our nerdom, especially those of a much edgier nature were never represented in the popular media, this short lived TV show was a beacon of light, ironically, to those of us who longed for our beloved fandoms to be brought to life. Yes, even Kindred has its place in our world.
